BACKGROUND: Soft tissue facial volumization is currently the second most common minimally invasive procedure performed by Plastic Surgeons. As with any procedure, it is not without complications. Percutaneous volumization has a low rate of major complications such as skin infections, skin necrosis, anaphylaxis, etc.. However, it does have a high rate of local adverse reactions (93%) such as brushing, swelling, needle puncture marks etc. METHODS: We present a retrospective chart review series of over 300 cases of facial volumization performed by a single surgeon via an intraoral route. RESULTS: We present a retrospective chart review series of over 300 cases of facial volumization performed by a single surgeon via an intraoral route with minimal swelling and no instances of infection or other major or minor complications. Our results indicate that facial volumization via the intraoral route is safe and effective. CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate that facial volumization via the intraoral route is safe and effective, and may be a better option than percutaneous volumization for avoiding local adverse reactions.
